AJ Brown Building Company win Nelson renovation over $500,000 award 

Registered Master Builders (Nelson) recently had the 2007 House of Year awards, in association with PlaceMakers.

AJ Brown Building Ltd was awarded a Gold Award and was a Local Category winner in the Category three PlaceMakers Renovation over $500,000 section.

The judges had this to say

"This stunning inner city dwelling is position on a sunny north-east facing hill behind the cathedral and looks beyond to the surrounding bush-clad hills.

A stately home with four bedrooms, one bathroom, two ensuites and a three car attached garage, this property suffered from neglect over the years and any additions and alterations made were not in keeping with the original architecture.

The restoration team, comprised of the owners, Arthouse Architecture and AJ Brown Builders Ltd and their sub-traders, worked closely together and transformed the property into an outstanding home true to its original character and potential.

No expense was spared from beneath the ground up. New electrical, joinery, carpentry and painting was completed to the highest of standards, and all the native timbers were restored to an as new condition.

Every one of the people involved in the work is experienced in major restorative projects, and this home presented many challenges which were overcome to create a residence to be proud of, a residence given the chance to be around in another 100 years."
